私たちの日常生活の中にはたくさんのフィードバックにあふれています。電灯のスイッチを入れた時の「カチッ」という音、スマホのアプリを長押しした時の微かな振動など、それらの物理的フィードバックで自分の操作が確実に実行されたことを確認することができます。これらは製品のユーザーインターフェイス(UI)の設計の中で意図的に組み込まれます。

質問です。
①　日常的に使う道具や製品が使用中に何らかのフィードバックを出さなかった場合、私たちはどんなことを感じどんな行動に移るでしょうか。使用する人に対してまったくフィードバックを出さない道具や製品があるでしょうか。人とのコミュニケーションの際にフィードバックがなかった場合に、私たちはどのような反応をするでしょうか。
②　私たちは学習する子どもたちにどのような内容のフィードバックをどのくらいの頻度で届けているでしょうか。学習活動をある種のシステムととらえて、子どもたちのUIやUX (ユーザーエクスペリエンス)の指標を測定すると、どのような数値が出るでしょうか。


学校の多様な場面で教師と子どもたちの間でさまざまな言葉かけや対話が発生します。特に学習活動の過程では言葉を媒体としたやりとりは重要な意味があり、私たち教師には有効なフィードバックを適時に届ける実践が期待されています。有効なフィードバックとはどのようなものか、Stanford, Yale, Columbia Universityなどの心理学研究者による共同研究があります。

"They had middle-school teachers assign an essay-writing assignment to their students, after which students were given different types of teacher feedback. To their surprise, researchers discovered that there was one particular type of teacher feedback that improved student effort and performance so much that they deemed it "magical." Students who received this feedback chose to revise their paper far more often that students who did not (a 40 percent increase among white students; 320 percent boost among black students) and improved their performance significantly. What was the magical feedback? Just one phrase: I'm giving you these comments because I have very high expectations and I know that you can reach them. That's it. Just 19 words.
